A teenage girl was arrested on suspicion of inciting religious hatred after allegedly burning an English language version of the Qur'an, police said today.

The 15-year-old was questioned and bailed by detectives last Friday after the alleged incident at a school in the Sandwell area of the West Midlands.

She is alleged to have posted footage of the act on Facebook.

A 14-year-old boy was also arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of making threats on the social networking site in connection with the alleged incident. He was released on bail, a spokeswoman for West Midlands police said.

"The local neighbourhood team have strong links with the school and have been working closely with key partners from the community and the local authority to resolve the matter locally," she said.

"West Midlands police will investigate and monitor any crime reported by individuals who may have been targeted because of their disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation or transgender."

Essa história tem dois lados errados.

Ela não queimou um leitor do alcorão, ela queimou um livro. Que pertencia a ela. Creio que todo mundo deveria ter o direito de queimar qualquer uma de suas posses que escolher.

Por outro lado, foi uma atitude bem idiota da parte dela. Poder fazer uma coisa não significa que é uma boa ideia fazer. Não sei o que ela tinha na cabeça, mas se achou que ia ter algum resultado positivo com essa proeza, é muito burra.

Ainda assim, prendê-la é ridículo. Se aberrações como a Westboro Baptist Church são protegidas pela lei, a burrice dela também deveria.

Infelizmente, as leis anti-blasfêmia da Europa ainda são retardadas assim.

Na verdade ela não foi enquadrada em alguma coisa relacionada a blasfêmia, mas sim por incitar o ódio religioso, não?

Se fosse por isso, o Behemoth deveria estar preso a muito tempo toda vez que tocasse no Reino Unido. Em todo o show eles rasgam uma Bíblia (em compensação, foi processado na Polônia).
