Dreamscarred Press, the definitive source for new psionic material, has decided to take on its biggest endeavor to date. Set in the world of Ksaren, a world rocked millenia ago by The Impact, Third Dawn explores a world without arcane or divine magic, a world where the power of the mind has risen to fill in the gap left by the departure of the magic of the ancient world.

With a planned release date of June 2008, the Third Dawn Campaign Setting will be a 100 page book detailing the world of Ksaren, from the races that make Ksaren its home, to the geography of the world, to the nations, cities, organizations, and monsters that can be found. In addition, details will be given on how to survive in Third Dawn without the traditional magic-based classes. The initial plans are to release Third Dawn rules for the d20 3.5, True20, and 4E rules systems - licenses allowing.

Bem, isso me lembra algumas perguntas e resposta que tirei do fórum da Dreamscarred Press ( ambas respostas dadas pelo Jeremy Smith, um dos donos da Dreamscarred Press ):

Will this campaign setting assume the use of all Dreamscarred Press supplements?

It will incorporate a fair bit of material from other Dreamscarred Press works, but necessary information will be included without the requirement of purchasing other books.

For example, if we used the Enlightenment organization from Untapped Potential, the details of the Enlightenment would be in the Campaign Setting - it wouldn't simply reference the other supplement.

( E um pouco após ): Oh, yes. The three released Races of the Mind will play a role in Third Dawn.

Other Dreamscarred Press products make references to Hypersconcious, which is a decent book. Will the campaign setting also make use of material or mechanics presented in Hyperconscious?

If they make sense, yes, so long as a) it's open content or b) Malhavoc gives permission if it's not.

Acho psiquismo bem legal, embora fique deslocado nos cenários comuns. Não ter magia arcana e divina é interessante, mas se o psiquismo acabar sendo uma "falsa magia", substituindo tudo o que a magia faz nos cenários comuns, será bem desestimulante.

E eu gosto de cenários pós-apocalípticos.


Agora uma curiosidade: 100 páginas não é pouco? Considerando que eles estão usando uma abordagem diferente (ausência de magia).

Agora uma curiosidade: 100 páginas não é pouco?

Depende do que for abordado em 100 folhas. Se for algo mecânico e cenário, como é feito em Eberron e Forgotten Realms, sim, é pouco. Se for puramente descritivo, é uma quantia razoável.
