This week it's been back to the Monster Manual for me, so I had to knock off from H2: Thunderspire Labyrinth for a bit. The MM editors wanted some more writing done by way of clearer "what's this critter and why is it here" introductions (which I think of as "mission statements"), and some help with tactics.
If a monster really doesn't have tactics per se, I'm trying to find something to say that might help the DM with target designation -- for example, "this monster tries to eat the nearest enemy each turn" or "this monster attacks the enemy who did the most damage to it in the previous round." And I'm also trying to make sure we say which monsters are likely to run away when they're hurt, and which are fanatical or bloodthirsty enough to fight to the death.
